McKinley Wellness

McKinley Wellness is the redesign of an app that is used by the University of Illinois Health Center. The purpose of the app is to provide students with financial and physically beneficial tools to help keep themselves healthy.

Goal
Utilize branding resources to promote accessibility and emotional stimulation to application users to enhance their digital experience.

Year
Fall of 2023

A priority for this redesign is to ensure that students have immediate access to the resources that are offered and supported by McKinley.

  • By exploring the existing website for McKinley Health Center, it became clear which areas on the website were lacking strength and accessibility.

  • Interviews were conducted with University of Illinois students, who are frequent users of Mckinley’s resources.

  • People want more resources to help with both their financial stability and their physical health.

Font: Garamond

Colors: Blue, Orange, White

An easy-to-read font choice, paired with a set of blue and orange colors, is consistent with the University of Illinois branding package. Hand drawn icons add a comforting visual aspect to elevate user experience.

Low Fidelity

Mid Fidelity

What started as an outline of shapes and colors eventually developed into a functioning prototype of a wellness resource app. The app boasts features such as financial planning information, budget worksheets that people can fill in, a financial calculator, links to podcasts, and wellness rings which can be filled out throughout the day.

Direct user paths allow for users to easily locate the features they are looking for within the app. Links to pages are designed to be accessible through the dropdown menu and by clicking on icon buttons.
